Based on quarterly statistics, 6289 clients were advised during the year 2010/11. 30,534 contacts were made with these clients, or with third parties on their behalf, and advice was given on 18,223 separate issues. Overall, a slightly greater proportion of clients were female (54% female : 46% male) and a majority of clients were in the middle age bands. The majority of clients were either in a relationship or single.
The proportion of White British clients reflects the population mix in Swale, but the statistics also show that a significant and growing proportion of clients were from ethnic minorities. The five most advised nationalities were British, Polish, Lithuanian, Irish and Latvian. Under housing tenure, the largest group of clients were homeowners, either owning outright or with a mortgage, but this group represented only 28% of clients. The statistics also show that significant numbers of clients were disabled and an increasing proportion had health problems, borne out by the large number of clients who were unemployed, retired or permanently sick or disabled.
Clients at the CAB in Swale came from all 25 Local Authority Wards within Swale.
